Recently I was told that someone had a problem with preachers that use movie clips in their sermons to make a point. The argument they said was that it is letting to much of the world into the church. I had to respectfully disagree. There are several issues to address here, first is the issue of the world into the church. If the preacher is adopting false theology from the clip then I would agree but in this case the preacher is preaching biblical truth and is using the clip to make his point. Jesus used parables to make his points relevant to those He was speaking to. If they had the technology back then I bet Jesus would have used a movie clip or two Himself. The other issue to address here is hard for me to speak to because I am guilty of this myself. If you say that you don’t like the way the church is presented or arranged and it is not meeting your needs. I want to ask who’s needs are you (or me) meeting, it is not about you (or me), it is about Him. What am I doing to meet the needs of the church. The thing is that God has us where he wants us and we are called to serve. I may not like the presentation but if it is the truth then I am just going to trust that God is speaking crystal clearly to someone. Well that is my thoughts on the subject.
