So what is the deal with internet marketing?

So many folks are asking me to help with this subject and at first it looks really simple. Make a website for you biz and wallah! Google crawls your page and people can find you. Well it isn’t that easy. The thing is there are many things that Google looks at when it is indexing the internet and these effect the search results. The key here folks is to know what Google is looking for so your business website comes up when searched. Now I am NOT saying to try to game the Google system. You want you business to be relevant to the folks who are looking for you and there is away to make your site more relate-able to these folk’s searches and hence higher in Google results.

So how do we do this?

There is more than one right way but the best way is to think first of your customer and try to give them what they need and want to be able to make a good buying decision. So your site needs to say the right things and not the wrong things (another post to come on this later) also you need to leverage the information you know into articles that you post on your business’ blog. These articles also can to be posted to other article submission sites like squidoo.com, hubpages.com and Pinterest  just to name a few.  Your article should have a link in it to take folks back to your original article on your blog. Backlinks are not the goal, readers are. These links let readers that like what they read, find more of your writing.

Then you need to yell it from the mountain tops. Well O.K. Tweet it, Facebook post and Google plus it. In your social media post you should to your blog. Google rewards sites that are relevant and have great consistent content.

This is a sketch of the SEO process. I would love to help your company improve it’s search ranking and internet marketing. Later we will talk about an integrated strategy to leverage search and social media to increase your walk in traffic.
