My little family read in the car. Really Stacey, my wife, reads to us in the car. This last year we stared reading “The Wingfeather Saga”. The first book of the saga, “On the Edge of the Dark Sea of Darkness”, and we just finished the second book in the saga, “North or Be Eaten”. The second book picks up the story of the Igiby family and their adventures north. This book is well crafted and is full of delightful details that create a world that is hard to put down. Peterson’s characters are written with insight and depth that allows the reader to really relate to them and feel their struggles and fears. The tale of the Igiby’s is action packed. As we read this book I was confronted with my own struggles and I could relate to the fears and responses to those struggles. In the book I found myself being reminded that “The Maker” is redeeming me and mine as well as the Igiby’s. I highly recommend this book.
